B The Theatrical Career of P G Wodehouse
Wodehouse was a prominent personality in the theatrical world in the first half of the twentieth century, in both the UK and the USA, and in particular up to about 1930. His strengths in writing scripts included using basic English translations of plays written in foreign languages to create humorous English adaptations; working jointly with fellow-English authors to create English language plays; and writing lyrics to the music of such composers as Jerome Kern, Ivan Caryll, Louis A Hirsch - and even on a couple of occasions with George Gershwin and Cole Porter.
